Biography and expertise

Matthias Hamel focuses on strategy consulting for European and global telecommunications companies and their shareholders as well as data centers, AI / cloud / SaaS providers and enterprise software / ERP players. He also supports global private equity and infrastructure investors in the context of investment strategies, transactions and strategy projects of their portfolio companies.

His functional focus is on the development of product portfolios, infrastructure strategies, AI strategy and implementation, digitalization, innovation and business cases as well as investment consulting and due diligence support.

In total, Matthias has worked on 130+ strategy projects for more than 60 companies on all continents and supported major investors on 210+ transactions. His work often focuses on linking commercial decisions to underlying technical capabilities.

He has been with the company for over 20 years and was one of the founding members of the CEE office in 2006. He has been head of the technology and innovation practice since 2009 and has been a member of the CTAM Europe board since 2011. He has been Managing Director since 2013. Matthias Hamel has been Managing Partner of Altman Solon since the beginning of 2024.

Matthias Hamel studied Business Informatics at the TU Darmstadt and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
