Internship

During your internship, you will become part of one of our project teams and provide support by working independently on your own work packages and individual tasks. As project assignments are often only determined at short notice, you will usually find out which project you will be working on during the onboarding days. We will of course try to take any preferences you may have into account. The internships usually take place in Germany at the client's premises, in one of our local offices or in a home office. The duration of an internship is between 8-12 weeks with regular working hours of 40h/week. We require an advanced university degree (Bachelor/Master) in physics, mathematics, computer science or natural sciences, engineering or economics with a quantitative, analytical or technological specialization and very good academic performance.

Working student activity

As a working student, you will support our colleagues in a specific subject area, in particular with internal tasks and projects. We therefore require an ongoing university degree (matriculation required) in a subject relevant to the position, ideally at least in the fourth bachelor's semester. As a rule, most of the work will be done remotely. Occasional stays at our headquarters in Frankfurt or in other offices, especially for training purposes, will take place in consultation with your team. The weekly working time is up to 20 hours/week (during semester breaks also up to 40 hours/week possible).

You recently graduated or have already gained some work experience? No matter what you choose, in every working model you will work closely with your colleagues in your team.

To expand our Consulting & Solutions teams, we are looking for students/graduates (m/f/d) of physics, mathematics, computer science or natural sciences, engineering and economics with quantitative or technological specializations. You must have a very good academic record, be fluent in German and English and have a high mathematical and/or technological affinity. In addition to strong analytical skills and a results-oriented approach, we attach great importance to social competence. Collaboration and cooperation are part of our company philosophy and is reflected in our work structures, employee development and incentive schemes.

Joining d-fine is possible throughout the whole year at the beginning of each month. After our intensive onboarding program, which lasts several weeks, you will join a (project) team working for our customers. You can usually expect a total of three interviews, which will last around 2.5 to 3 hours in total. For internships and jobs as a working student, the (personal) meeting usually consists of a one-hour interview.

FAQs about applying and joining us

No, at the beginning the employee usually starts in the pool of our generalists, whereby the exact assignment to a sub-unit is based on the place of residence. The generalised approach can be retained for the entire career at d-fine. However, it is also possible to switch to a specific subject cluster over time and thus specialise in a particular subject area or sector.

You can apply for a direct entry position at one of our locations abroad via our job portal. Please note that you ideally have a relevant connection to the desired country, e.g. through your studies or professional activity, as well as appropriate language skills.

Yes, if agreed at the start of your employment, we will contribute up to a certain amount towards the costs of relocating to one of our office locations.

We do not offer a special doctoral programme within the d-fine curriculum. However, for candidates who wish to pursue a doctorate after joining us, there may be a re-employment guarantee by arrangement.

Our employees in the „Blue“ and „Yellow“ working models have the option of living wherever they want in Germany and thus retaining their social environment. It is not necessary to live near one of our office locations. Project work usually takes place directly at the customer’s location, in a d-fine office or, especially with „Yellow“, remotely.
